A Beginners Guide To Cosplay With Crazy Lenses | Part 1

A Beginners Guide To Cosplay With Crazy Lenses

Cosplay has become a huge industry in the last few years with cosplay conventions happening all over the globe as well as meet-ups for specific characters or fan bases. This hobby allows you to unleash your creativity, meet new people, and express yourself. Enjoy the freedom of spending time with your imagination and enjoy acting as your favorite character. Cosplay expands into anime, video games, animated franchises, superhero movies, and TV shows. Basically, you can cosplay any fictional character and some cosplayers even dress as celebrities for look-alike contests.

Starting in cosplay takes lots of preparation to make sure every detail of your costume is spot on. If you plan to DIY your cosplay you will need to brush up on your sewing skills, hairstyling skills, prop building skills, and contact lens care. Even if you are planning to buy a ready-made cosplay, you may want to add finishing touches such as makeup and cosplay contact lenses.

We’ve put together an easy-to-follow checklist to help you start using cosplay contacts with your cosplay. The eye color of your character can be a very important detail, especially since in some series the eye color tells you information about the character. We are even seeing colored contact lenses being included in more movies and TV series because they are much more safe and comfortable than they used to be.

Choose Your Cosplay Contact Lens Supplier

Your eyes are very important and you never want to put them at risk for the sake of an eye color. Make sure to research which companies sell safe cosplay colored contacts. Find FDA Approved contact lenses that have been certified by the American Food and Drug Administration as fit for purpose so you know they will keep your eyes safe.

If you don’t regularly wear contact lenses, start with soft colored contacts as they are comfortable and lightweight, allowing your eyes to quickly adjust. Most colored contacts for cosplay will be soft contact lenses, including all the designs at Crazy Lenses.

Make sure to get a contact lens fitting so you can get the right fit for your eyes. If you are going to be wearing your colored contacts all day at a comic-con you will need them to be comfortable and to stay in your eyes. This is an important step to help keep your eyes safe.

Using Your Cosplay Contact Lenses

Next, learn about correctly preparing, inserting, removing, and storing your cosplay eye contacts. You can follow our Guides and Tutorials for detailed information.

Make sure to get contact lens solution and a case to soak your colored contacts before wearing them. If you aren’t experienced with inserting contact lenses, there are tools available to help you use your contact lenses. Lens insertion wands are designed to hold a contact lens in a suction cup while you gently place it on your eye. This tool is also handy if your cosplay character has long nails as it avoids any accidental damage to the surface of the contact lens.

If you are going away to a cosplay convention, you will also find travel kits in our collection to help you care for your contact lenses while you are away. They contain handy tools and a storage case; some designs also include a mirror so you can sort your contact lenses when you are out and about. Remember, make sure to only handle contact lenses with freshly washed and dried hands.

Once your contact lenses are in, they should be low maintenance. While other elements of your costume may need adjusting such as your hair and makeup, once your contact lenses are in and comfortable you may not even notice them.

Crazy Lenses provides cosplay contact lenses that are made from light breathable materials for lasting freshness. The ultra thin surface is designed for maximum comfort. These soft contact lenses are then pigmented using a specialist process to ensure your eyes are safe and you can enjoy vibrant detailed designs.

Our biggest tip for wearing cosplay colored contacts is not to get complacent. Just because you got away with something once or your friend recommended it doesn’t make it right. Here are some golden rules to follow:

  • Only wear your colored contact lenses for up to 8 hours per day.
  • Only wear your lenses for the duration stated on the packaging. Some lenses are only suited to one use whereas others can be worn again throughout the month.
  • Always inspect your contact lenses closely for any signs of damage or build-up. Don’t wear them if you spot either.
  • Never share your contact lenses with another person, even if you have cleaned them.
  • Don’t re-wet your contact lenses if they have completely dried out. It is time to let them go.
  • Only use contact lens solution to clean and store your lenses. Absolutely no water, saliva or other substances.
  • If you are storing your lenses for a long time, make sure to refresh the solution and rinse your contact lenses.
  • Never stack your colored lenses i.e. wear them on top of regular contact lenses.
  • If you drop your lenses, do not put them back in your eye.
  • Only wear contact lenses that exactly match your eye measurements.

When it comes to reusable contact lenses, it is important to remember the duration refers to calendar days and not uses. If you have 30 day lenses, they can be used for up to 30 days once they are opened rather than 30 uses.

Always prioritize your eye health by regularly replacing your colored contacts cosplay. In fact, go check your collection right now to make sure they are still ok to use! We know there will be some pairs hiding in there that need replacing. Head to our Cosplay Lenses range to refresh your collection. Our cheap prices and high quality are a winning combination and we hope to become your go-to Cosplay Contact Lenses shop.
