Why wear coloured contact lenses?
The main reason our customers love coloured contacts so much is because they make your eyes stand out beautifully. You can change your hair colour, nail colour and lip colour to suit your style and tastes; why not change your eye colour too, especially when it’s perfectly safe to do so?
Coloured contact lenses don’t just have to be for makeup artists, models and actors; many people wear them for special occasions such as weddings or on a night out with friends. Colour contact lenses can change your entire look and make your eyes completely mesmerising.
How easy is it to put in the contact lens?
Putting in your contact lenses is easier than you may think. Follow our guide on how to insert coloured contact lenses for tips and step by step instructions. See the full article here.
Should I buy disposable or non disposable contact lenses?
Our range of contact lenses are available as daily disposables or reusable 30 day and 90 day lenses. If you are only buying your lenses for Halloween or a one-time event, we recommend buying daily disposables as reusable lenses won’t be safe for you to wear again for Halloween next year. However, if you regularly cosplay or work as a performer, you can save money by wearing reusable contact lenses by cleaning and storing them in between uses. If you’re buying natural lenses and would like to wear them more than once, then non-disposable lenses are a great option for you too.
Our lens kits come with the multipurpose lens solution for you to clean your lenses with, which is of utmost importance when wearing non-disposable contact lenses.
How do I care for my contact lenses?
There are a few steps to contact lens care, even for daily disposable lenses. This includes soaking your contact lenses in fresh multipurpose lens solution for at least 2 hours before use. To find out more about how to care for your contact lenses, especially if you are storing reusable contact lenses between uses, see our full article here.
How do I remove my contact lenses for the first time?
If you have never worn contact lenses before, you may need to practice inserting and removing contact lenses. It can be helpful to buy some spare pairs of coloured contact lenses to ensure you have extras in case of any mishaps; especially, if you need your contact lenses for an important occasion such as Halloween. Make sure to handle your contact lenses gently; the soft surface of the contact lenses can tear if over handled. However, with our step by step guide you will soon find it easy to remove your contact lenses. Follow the information in our guide to removing contact lenses, especially if this is your first time to help you feel comfortable with the process. Find the full article here.
Which coloured contact lenses are best for me?
Choosing the best contact lens colour and shade depends on several factors, such as your eye colour and skin tone, and the effect you’d like to create. If you’re looking for striking Halloween or character lenses with bright colours, these suit pretty much everyone but you may need to consider additional factors for natural coloured lenses:
If you have light eyes (eg. blue eyes, grey eyes, hazel eyes)
If your eye colour is naturally light blue, try green or grey opaque lenses to give your eyes a subtle new tone.
For a look that’s striking, opt for lenses that are unusual for your complexion, such as brown contacts for fair skin and blonde hair or grey contacts for olive skin.
If you have dark eyes (e.g. green eyes and brown eyes)
Opt for hazel and light brown/green shades for a subtle and natural look. If you have an olive or dark skin tone, a lighter eye colour with honey tones will have a very striking effect for a cool and sparkling look.
Your dark eyes are perfect for experimenting with vibrant colours such as purple, pink and aqua or green. Make sure to choose vibrant coverage lenses to completely cover your dark brown eyes.

Can I wear coloured contact lenses if I don’t have a prescription for vision correction?
You can wear coloured contact lenses without a prescription for vision correction. Currently, the majority of our contact lenses are non-prescription meaning that they don’t provide vision correction. Non-prescription lenses are called Plano (or power: 0.00) and are specially designed for this purpose. You do, however, need to have a contact lens fitting from your optician to wear contact lenses, even if you don’t need vision correction. This is so you can ensure the base curve and diameter match your eyes for a comfortable fit.
Are coloured contacts prescription?
Most of our contact lenses are non-prescription, so they are just for cosmetic purposes and don't correct your vision. However, we offer a prescription range too, which we are constantly expanding. So if you wear glasses or contact lenses, you can now jazz up your look on a daily basis and wear your natural coloured lenses or Halloween contacts without your glasses.
Are coloured contact lenses safe?
When buying coloured contact lenses online look out for an FDA approval to ensure the lenses have been checked and certified that they are safe to wear. Unfortunately, many coloured contact lens providers do not meet these strict safety regulations and you should NEVER buy from a source that you do not trust.
The FDA advises that you should NEVER buy lenses from:
- street vendors
- salons or beauty supply stores
- boutiques
- flea markets
- novelty stores
- Halloween stores
- convenience stores
- beach shops
- Internet sites that do not have FDA approval
Crazy Lenses are FDA approved and believe that contact lens and eye safety are paramount. We always recommend that you visit an optician for advice on fitting your coloured contact lenses before wearing them.
What is the FDA?
The FDA stands for the U.S Food and Drug Administration. They regulate the safety of medical devices such as contact lenses and can seek to prosecute vendors who sell them unsafely or illegally.
Can my friend wear my coloured contact lenses?
Your friend cannot wear your coloured contact lenses. For hygiene and eye safety, you should absolutely never share your Halloween contact lenses under any circumstances. Sharing lenses can lead to eye infections and extreme discomfort so please do not share them with your friends.
Can coloured contact lenses make you go blind?
There have been some horror stories in the press about people going blind or damaging their eyes after wearing unregulated and therefore unsafe contacts or from not carrying out proper care practices. If you buy your lenses from a reputable and FDA approved website such as Crazy Lenses, you don't need to worry about quality but still need to ensure you take proper care in applying and cleaning your contact lenses to avoid eye infections.
Can I see out of cat eye contact lenses?
Even though the cat eye lenses have a vertical pupil, you can still see out of them perfectly, as with most of our Halloween lenses. The only exceptions are the blind effect and mesh coloured contact lenses which have pigment over the pupil holes. The blind lenses are best for photoshoots rather than nights out.
Can I see out of blind contact lenses?
You are able to see out of all our contact lenses, but the white mesh lenses and the blind white lenses do reduce your vision because they cover your whole pupil. Just be extra aware of your surroundings if you're going out wearing these contacts.
