Realistic fake blood is a key component in theater, film, and special effects makeup. It can easily transform a costume design to create a more convincing appearance by enhancing the realism of the look. As well as theater and on-stage makeup, fake blood is an easy way of taking your Halloween costume to an entirely different level; creating cosmetic wounds and gashes to emphasize the terrifying result you had in mind. At Crazy Lenses, we offer a selection of different fake blood variations for all to enjoy and create with from two renowned brands; Mehron and Paintglow.

Fake blood can be applied in several ways and with our range of different product types, you can easily create the look you had imagined. From fake blood spray for a splatter effect or much thicker consistencies for more intricate and detailed applications. Complete your astonishingly terrifying makeup and outfit with a fake blood formula that is perfect for you.

Mehron Fake Blood

Known for its high-quality SFX products, the Mehron fake blood collection is renowned for its ability to create long-lasting and realistic results. A must-have for any special effects makeup artist, these products provide users with the ability to transform theatrical and creative costumes into breathtaking works of art that do not go unnoticed. Not only are the Mehron products of great quality due to consistency and versatility, but they are also realistic in color. Mehron’s fake blood features a deep, dark red color, which closely mimics real blood.

Mehron Stage Blood - The Mehron Stage Blood is a syrup-based formula that is particularly popular with creative makeup artists. Its thick coagulated consistency is designed to create realistic-looking bleeds from SFX wounds and on the skin and does not dry completely to allow the glossy appearance to remain.

Mehron 3D Gel - If you enjoy creating convincing SFX cuts and gashes, the Mehron 3D gel in Blood Red is a high-quality product designed to create realistic wounds on the skin. The Mehron blood gel formula is already created in a life-like blood tone so it performs well as a stand-alone product, but if you fancy some added gore, the Stage blood could also be added.

Mehron Blood Splatter - Perfect for slasher-inspired makeup and costumes, the Mehron Blood Splatter Spray is a thin liquid that comes in an easy-to-use spray bottle so you can easily apply it directly to the skin. Once on the skin, the formula drips just like real blood fulfilling its realistic promise!

Paintglow Fake Blood

Paintglow is another prominent brand known for its high-quality special effects products, including its range of fake blood. Their realistic blood products are favored for their convincing appearance and ease of use. Paintglow products are designed to cater to a variety of experience levels, from those of a more professional background to users looking to add a splash of fake blood to their Halloween party costume.

Within the Paintglow collection at Crazy Lenses, you’ll find the SFX Fake Blood and the SFX Fake Blood Spray, both a part of the Fright Fest range. For more detailed applications, the SFX Fake Blood from Paintglow can be easily controlled with its thick formula consistency whereas if you are looking for a blood splatter then the Fake Blood Spray could be for you!

How to safely and easily apply your fake blood

  • Patch test - A patch test should be performed before the product is applied widely on the skin. To successfully execute the patch test, apply a small amount of your chosen fake blood to a discrete area of skin (such as the crook of your elbow or behind the ear) and wait 24-48 hours to check for any reactions like redness or itching.
  • Protect your clothing and surfaces - Wear old clothing or use a protective apron to avoid staining clothes. Cover work surfaces with plastic sheeting or disposable tablecloths to prevent stains.
  • Avoid contact with eyes and mouth - Fake blood should not come into contact with your eyes or mouth under any circumstances. Avoid your contact lenses coming into contact with the fake blood; it is advised lenses should be inserted after the blood is applied with clean hands.
