@emilymartistry has been busy creating Christmas makeup looks for the 12 Days of Christmas makeup challenge. This Instagram trend sees makeup artists creating 12 different Christmas looks throughout December.

For day 1 of this challenge, @emilymartistry created a Christmas Wreath Clown. This cool idea merges a traditional Christmas wreath with a clown face. Emily frames her face with a detailed and realistic-looking Christmas wreath. She creates classic diamond shapes around her eyes. One is a classic red diamond while the other continues the theme from the wreath with some winter foliage. The swirls on her cheek and nose remind us of some of the most famous horror clowns while a bright red lip completes this festive ensemble. She adds a white ruff collar to complete the costume. To pair with the red swirls on her cheek and nose, Emily opted for the Spiral Red Lenses. This crazy design is ideal for clown costumes and also gives candy cane vibes for Christmas. The next of @emilymartistry’s holiday makeup looks is a classic reindeer. This cute makeup idea is fun for a Christmas party and can be paired with any outfit. Create the illusion of a deer nose by using techniques such as contouring and using brown face paint to paint the end of your nose. Add a brown lip - making the top lip a darker shade creates an effective reindeer mouth. The star of the show is the eye makeup. Use hints of white blended with brown to create beautiful large doe eyes. Add white spots to your face and shoulders to create a classic reindeer look and bronze the skin for a warm glow. Whether you make your own or buy a set, completing your reindeer makeup with a set of antlers ties it all together. To create reindeer eyes, Emily chose our Black Lenses but a pair of rich Brown Lenses is also a great choice.

A Christmas Carol is part of many people’s Christmas celebrations. Whether you watch one of the movie adaptations or love to read the story, this classic festive tale has stood the test of time. Emily created the Ghost of Christmas Past from this story. In the book, the Ghost of Christmas Past shimmers and flickers like candlelight which Emily references in her makeup look by painting a candle on her cheek. The overall theme of Emily’s ghost is a classic white figure with sunken eyes, large eyelashes, dark lips and a veil. To continue the white theme, Emily chose a pair of White Lenses to complete this spooky character.

@maddyjmua has also been busy creating makeup for Christmas with unusual winter-themed ideas such as this snow leopard makeup. This gorgeous makeup design features fur-like detailing and a pink cat nose, created only using body paints. The long eyelashes draw attention to our Blind Lenses, giving an eerie yet mesmerising effect to this makeup. The addition of the winter hat, earmuffs and white hair anthropomorphised this character. Wouldn’t it be cool to create a whole universe of animals that looked like this?

Remember, if you are planning to use our blind lenses, they will significantly reduce vision. These lenses cover the iris and pupil with pigmentation meaning you can't see but you may still be able to see light. This cool effect is best reserved for photoshoots. A great compromise, if you want to go out while wearing blind lenses, is to wear a blind effect lens in one eye and a regular coloured contact in the other eye.
