Putting something in your eye may seem weird at first, especially if it’s your first time doing so, but it’s actually very easy and will feel like second nature once you’ve got the hang of it! 

Here’s a Step-By-Step Guide to putting in contact lenses:

Step 1: Wash your hands with warm soapy water, rinse and dry them thoroughly.

Step 5: Pull down your lower eyelid using your finger on the opposite hand that you’re applying the contact lens with.

Step 6: Look up and gently place the lens on the lower part of your eye.

Step 7: Slowly close your eyelid and keep your eyes closed for a moment.

Step 8: Blink several times to centre the lens and then repeat the process with your other eye.

This is a small wand with a suction cup at the end. Attach your contact lens to the suction cup so that you can easily place the lens on your eyes. Checklist Before Opening Your Contact Lenses

• Check your contact lenses are fully sealed and have not been tampered with or damaged in transit.
• Check the base curve, diameter and (where applicable) prescription measurements match your latest contact lens fitting.
• Check the lenses are the colour and design you expect.
• Check the lenses are intact with no tears or defects and they are floating and hydrated with solution.

Troubleshooting Insert and Comfort Problems

If your lens feels uncomfortable, first try removing and inspecting the lens for damage or any dust/fluff that may be on it. 

If the lens is damaged, do not attempt to wear it. Instead, contact our customer services team to let us know about the problem, making sure to quote your order ID. If possible, take a picture of the damage to help our team quickly deal with the issue.

If your lens does not appear damaged, rinse with contact lens solution and reapply. 

You can also check that the lens is the correct orientation. The lens should appear ‘U’ shaped rather than ‘V’ shaped. For some coloured contact lenses, the print makes it obvious but for others, you will need to closely inspect the shape of the lens as it sits on the end of your finger.

If you continue to experience discomfort, check that the base curve and diameter match your measurements from your latest contact lens fitting. You should always make sure to check this before opening your contact lenses anyway. If you have prescription lenses that are different for each eye, make sure you have the right lens for each eye.

Due to certain conditions, you may experience heightened sensitivity to your lenses at certain times. For example, if you suffer from hay fever at certain times of the year, you may not be able to wear contact lenses during that time. You should also make sure to avoid other contaminants that may be in the air or on your face while you insert your contact lenses for example, perfume, smoke, deodorant, hairspray, makeup and moisturiser. 

Make sure that you have soaked your contact lenses in contact lens solution for at least 2 hours before wear. Skipping this step means that your lenses don’t have the chance to reach the perfect PH.
